Real Estate Agents are self-employed:
We do not receive a salary, a draw, a company car, insurance, an expense account, vacation pay, retirement benefits or social security benefits. We DO pay state and federal annual licensing fees, as well as mandatory educational expenses. We pay for our own phones, cars and related expenses, computers, advertising expenses (including those of advertising your home), conferance /convention expenses, and dues to many associations.
I have a contractual agreement with RE/MAX Signature Properties. This agreement states that I may list and sell Real Estate as an independent contractor representing RE/MAX Signature Properties.
Our compensation:
At the time of closing when all the work is done the Real Estate commission is paid to the broker from the sellers proceeds. The commission is divided between the broker and the agent shortly after the closing, long after many miles and hours are logged as well as many dollars spent advertising each property that we list.
